About us

Nasons was founded by Fred Nason in 1929 and by the 1950s included a series of shops in the city of Canterbury.

In 1962, Nasons moved to its present position in the High Street and has continued to grow, buying the surrounding premises as they became available, and today is a respected department store with 40,000 square feet of selling space in the High Street store alone.

In 1987, the company expanded further, moving most of its furniture to a new, specialised store on the Wincheap Estate. The new store offered a further 30,000 square foot of selling space, allowing the furniture  department to expand, and freeing up space in the High Street store to allow them introduce new departments: menswear, fashion and shoes.

Today the store sells popular and classic brands of furniture at Wincheap and at the High Street departments include bedroom furniture, cards,, china and gifts, cookware, fashion accessories, male and female fashion, lighting, lingerie, linens, nets soft furnishings, tiles and toys

In addition there is a restaurant and coffee shop,
Nasons is a member of the UKs largest furniture and fashion buying group AIS  and therefore is able to buy effectively and price competitively against any other store. What makes us different is that we are independent and that in both our stores you’ll find a comfortable, family atmosphere with an excellent range of merchandise and personal service from our helpful and friendly staff.
